Skate Social in Doncaster: Building a Welcoming Skate Community at Bone Idle

Just 3 weeks back into it and Bone Idles Skate Social community is growing!

Looking for a skate community in Doncaster?  Just three weeks into bringing back our Skate Social at Bone Idle, and it already feels like something really special is taking shape.

Last night’s skate meet had an unexplainable energy! It's so great when the right mix of people come together. Silver Street was full of warmth, encouragement, and SUCH a feel-good atmosphere that came from people genuinely enjoying themselves.

One of the best things to watch over the years of doing this has been the mix of skaters showing up to our Bone Idle Skate Social. From roller skaters and inline skaters to skateboarders, we’ve had people absolutely flying alongside others (literally...flying over stacks of skateboard) stepping on wheels for the first time, or coming back after years away.

It all works beautifully <3

There’s no ego, no pressure - just people learning, trying, laughing, and cheering each other on. The applause as guys landed tricks could probably be heard from down the street! Whether you’re on quads, inlines, or a board, everyone shares the same space and the same respect for each other.

That’s exactly what we hoped to create with our skate community in Doncaster.

We’re building more than just a skate night at Bone Idle. We’re creating a space that feels safe, welcoming, and genuinely kind...somewhere you can show up exactly as you are, whether you’re confident or a bit nervous, experienced or completely new.

A huge thank you to everyone who’s come down so far. Not only for bringing tonnes of uplifting energy and helping shape the atmosphere, but also for supporting us as a small independent venue here in Doncaster by grabbing drinks and snacks. It genuinely makes a difference and helps us keep creating and growing events like this.

And a special shout out to our own Kyle, who went out of his way to sweep up broken glass further down the street to make sure everyone could skate safely. It might seem like a small thing, but it says a lot about the kind of people this community is made up of.

So... If you’ve been thinking about getting into skating - whether that’s roller skating, inline skating, or skateboarding... consider this your sign! You don’t need to be good, you don’t need to know anyone, you just need to show up.

Our Skate Social runs weekly at Bone Idle Lounge in Doncaster. Every Monday from 6pm-9pm For more info Check out our What's On page (a heads up though - if it starts heavily raining at 4 or 5pm then it probably won't! The street can become quite slippery and I'm sure no one wants to ruin their bearings) Come down, get involved, and be part of something that’s only going to get better!

Thank you to Rick Birkin for taking these phenomenal shots. and.. Big up Kez who formed the Doncaster Skate group on Facebook and creating an online hub for everyone to share local spots to skate (and more). She's the inspiration that this all started here at Bone Idle.
