Our Policies & Safeguarding
1. Introduction
Welcome to Bone Idle, where we strive to create a safe & welcoming environment for both our staff and customers. This page outlines all policies, procedures, and expectations necessary to maintain the highest standards of operation. By following these policies, we ensure compliance with the licensing objectives, promoting safety, responsibility, and customer enjoyment.
The 4 licensing objectives:
❖ Public safety
❖ The prevention of crime & disorder
❖ The prevention of public nuisance
❖ The protection of children from harm

2. Equal Opportunities Policy
No Discrimination
❖ Inclusivity: Bone Idle is committed to providing an environment where all individuals are treated with respect, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or disability.
❖ Reporting Discrimination: Any incidents of discrimination or harassment must be reported to management immediately.
Neurodivergent / LGBTQIA+ Friendly Safe Space
At Bone Idle, we are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and safe space for everyone, particularly members of the Neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ communities.
We take pride in being recognised by these communities as a supportive and accepting environment.
❖ Neurodivergence: We have designed Bone Idle with Neurodivergent individuals in mind. Our dimmed lighting and lower music volume help create a calmer atmosphere compared to other venues in the area, acknowledging that many Neurodivergent people may be sensitive to loud sounds or flashing lights. If additional accommodations are needed, such as reducing the volume or turning off the upstairs speakers, our team is happy to assist.
❖LGBTQIA+: We are proud to fully support all members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and we cherish the trust many of our regular patrons have placed in us. Some customers have chosen to share their journey of self-discovery with us before opening up to others, and we have supported them with empathy and an open heart. During the summer, we decorate our space to celebrate Pride, and the Pride flag is always displayed in our window as a symbol that Bone Idle is a place where everyone can be their true selves, free from judgment.
Accessibility
Unfortunately Bone Idle is not fully accessible due to the toilet facilities being up a flight of stairs – however we will always ensure that the main bar is accessible to all, including those with disabilities. (Eg, we can move tables & chairs to accommodate wheelchair users where possible.
3. Health & Safety
Fire Safety
❖ Fire Exits: Staff will ensure all fire exits are clear and unlocked during opening hours. ❖ Fire Drills: Regular fire drills are held to ensure staff understand evacuation procedures. ❖ Fire Equipment: Staff are familiar with the location of fire extinguishers and how to use them. The manager keeps a regular log of any, and all testing or inspections done.
CCTV
❖ Data Storage: CCTV footage will be saved for up to 30 days. ❖ Data Protection: Only trained senior members of staff will have access to the CCTV system so if the police or any other members of authority needs footage for an incident, we will be able to provide it quickly. ❖ ICO: We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office & pay the data protection fee as part of the GDPR/Data Protection Act 2018. Page 5 of 16 ❖ Customer awareness: CCTV Recording Signs are visible throughout the venue, both externally & internally.
ALLERGENS
We take allergen management & training very seriously. ❖ Our milk frothing jugs are clearly labelled for the different types of milk we offer. ❖ An allergen information sign is prominently displayed at the bar, and staff will always ask customers about any allergies when they order milk-based products. ❖ For customers with allergies, we use the designated right-hand steam wand, which is thoroughly cleaned after each use to prevent cross-contamination and ensure it is ready for the next order. ❖ Our allergen sheet is available in the folder behind the bar. Food Safety: ❖ All food we serve at Bone Idle is currently pre-packaged. Some of these products may contain allergens, such as nuts. It is essential that staff ensure tables are thoroughly wiped down after customers have finished, especially when nuts have been consumed. This helps to prevent any risk of contamination and ensures the safety of customers with nut allergies.
Age Verification
❖ Challenge 25: Customers who appear under 25 must provide valid ID (passport, driving licence, or PASS card).
If a customer cannot provide ID, service of alcohol will be refused.

Under 18’s:
Anyone under the age of 18 will be required to leave the premises by 19:00 (7pm) - Unless a parent/guardian has requested beforehand for a specific event & the child is never left unaccompanied.
This is to ensure that ‘The Protection of Children from Harm’ licensing objective is fulfilled.
